Tom Shore Telecom Consulting is partnered with many major regional, national and international network providers and resellers of copper and fiber Internet access.   Our Internet customers include numerous cable companies, ILEC's, CLEC's, ISP's, telecommnications service providers, schools, enterprises and small businesses.  We do the shopping for you to provide the best combination of quality service and price to suit your needs.  Whether you're looking for a T1 or a fiber optic Ten-Gigabit ethernet port, we are well positioned to help you. We often bundle multicarrier solutions including Internet ports, IXC and local loops from fiber providers other than the incumbent telephone company to provide custom solutions that are often far more cost effective and sometimes provide more redundancy and diversity than many single carrier solutions and solutions using incumbent local telephone company loops. We are well experienced at finding ways to deliver large bandwidth over fiber in to rural areas, particularly for rural cable companies, and while this is often a challenge, sometimes with no easy solution, if there is a way around the old expensive incumbent telephone company, we'll usually find it.

Custom Solutions, Carrier Fiber Build-Outs, Diversity and Redundancy
In the right situations we can arrange fiber build-outs directly into major carrier and cable company networks for other cable companies, ILEC's, CLEC's, IXC's and businesses needing as little as 10 Megs. We often design Internet access solutions with diverse protection and/or redundancy on the loops combined with a multihomed, multicarrier port for unparalleled reliability.  Custom solutions and build-outs are some of the solutions that differentiate Tom Shore Telecom Consulting from almost all other telecom agents and procurement companies you will come across, and we don't charge for the solutions we offer like many procurement and 'telemanagement' companies do.

Special Pricing, Negotiation and Experience

There are many telecom agents that provide instant quotes over the Internet.  While that is a nice feature, and while we have those types of tools for our internal use, those that have been in the business a while know that the best pricing is often reached through negotiation and competitive pricing bids as well as knowing from experience what carriers to look at first and when to consider custom solutions.  Many cookie cutter agencies providing online quotes only represent a handful of carriers.  We represent many.  We know which of our providers offer special pricing reductions and which don't and we always try to offer you the best price.  Competitive pricing bids for Internet access is our standard procedure with some of our providers.

Delivery and Capacity
Different Internet access options are available geographically with a wide disparity in pricing.  Generally ethernet Intertnet access is the least expensive, but not always and it's still widely unavailable in many areas.  Ethernet implementation however is growing at a rapid rate.  Let us help you find the most cost-effective way for you to connect to the Internet at the speed you need.

- T1 line and NxT1 Lines of 1.544 Mbps and multiples thereof up to 12 Mbps are still the most cost effective dedicated solutions for reliable, undiluted, dedicated Internet access in many areas, especially rural locations. We can offer Internet T1 lines under $250/mo in some major metro areas.

- T3 / DS3
Internet is a 45 Mbps connection usually delivered over a fiber local loop. It can, on rare occassions, be delivered over copper local loops.  The hand-off to the customer is always fiber or coax. It can be converted by the carrier to an Ethernet handoff, electrical or fiber, but then it is usually sold as an ethernet product, managed with a router or unmanaged without a router, even though it's not necessarily a native ethernet delivery product. Although not usually the case, T3/DS3 and OCx Internet access can still sometimes be less expensive than Ethernet over fiber and should be considered.

- OC3 - 155 Mbps, OC12 - 622 Mbps, OC48 - 2.488 Gbps Fiber Internet delivery are still commonly used high capacity Internet delivery methods.  While ethernet over fiber is often less expensive because of it's more effecient delivery, that is not the case in every situation.  Remember, ethernet is still frequently delivered over an underlying OC optical carrier DS3, OC3, OC12, OC48 or higher. In some cases native ethernet over fiber is used.

- Ethernet Internet Access can be delivered over copper for speeds well over 20 Megs but in areas where ILEC local ethernet over fiber delivery is available, 10 Mbps is where most companies will choose to cross over from copper ethernet to fiber ethernet delivery.  Ethernet Internet access is delivered over a local network that makes more efficient use of network facilities so when this type of network has been built out in your area, if there is a local loop involved in your Internet delivery, ethernet Internet is usually the most cost-effective way to purchase.  Ethernet Internet speeds available differ by location depending on what type of equipment has been deployed in the central office and associated wire centers which will determine what speed ethernet local loops are available. Some central offices are equipped to offer ethernet local loop delivery capacities in increments of 10 Mbps up to 100 Mbps or more. Some CO's may only offer 50 mpbs,100 Mbps and increments of 50 or 100 or more Mbps thereafter, so if you need say 80 Mbps of Ethernet Internet Access, you will actually be using an 80 Mbps port delivered over a 100 Mbps access circuit and this may cause a less efficient price to be offered at 80 Mbps because you're paying for a 100 Mbps local access than say if you wanted a 100 Mbps circuit.  Sometimes the 80 Mbps price may be almost the same as the 100 Mbps.  We offer 100 Mbps ethernet over fiber Internet access for as low as $1600/month in many major metro areas including the local loop !

- Ethernet Over Copper
There are some companies that can offer Ethernet Internet access of 70 Mbps or more over copper.  While fiber would be preferred by many, ethernet over copper can be much more cost-effective in some areas and is an acceptable solution for many customers.  Contact us to see what's available in your area.
